What was Broomgate?
A 2015-16 controversy over new abrasive ‘directional fabric’ broom heads that let sweepers steer a curling stone. The sport’s top teams agreed to stop using them to protect the integrity of the game.
Why is curling called the roaring game?
The name comes from the rumbling sound a granite stone makes as it travels over the pebbled ice.
How long is a curling game?
Competitive games are usually eight or ten ends and can take two to three hours.
